Abstract:
To provide an electro-optical device that can prevent a reduction in contrast while reducing a trouble including malfunction, and an electronic apparatus.SOLUTION: An electro-optical device comprises: a first substrate that has a plurality of pixel electrodes having light transmission properties; a second substrate that has a common electrode 45 having light transmission properties; and an electro-optical layer that is arranged between the plurality of pixel electrodes and the common electrode and whose optical characteristics change according to an electric field. The second substrate is provided with a spacer 5 that defines the distance between the first substrate and the second substrate, and the spacer has a first inorganic material layer 51 that is composed of a first inorganic material, and a second inorganic material layer 52 having light shielding properties that is provided between the first inorganic material layer and the common electrode and is composed of a second inorganic material different from the first inorganic material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
