PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel carbazole compound, and a lithium ion battery with an overcharge prevention effect containing the same.SOLUTION: The carbazole compound is represented by general formula (1). (In the formula, Rrepresents a C1-6 fluoroalkyl group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group, where the aromatic hydrocarbon group has three or more substituents selected from fluorine atoms, C1-4 fluoroalkyl groups and C1-4 fluoroalkoxy groups; and Rare identical or different and each represent a C1-6 alkyl group, a C1-6 acyl group or a C1-4 alkoxy group.)
