Abstract:
To provide a combustion chamber structure for an engine capable of actualizing high combustion efficiency by maintaining a swirl flow in SPCCI combustion until a late period for a compression stroke.SOLUTION: A combustion chamber of an engine body is divided by a crown surface 50 of a piston 5, the inner wall face of a cylinder, and a pent-roof-shaped ceiling surface. The crown surface 50 of the piston 5 includes a cavity 51 recessed in a bowl shape. In the cross section view of the piston 5 at its surface along the arrangement direction of an intake port and an exhaust port, including a cylinder axis, the bottom face of the cavity 50 has a bottom 511 including a deepest portion 51B and its vicinity, and an IN side peripheral wall 513 arranged on the intake port side.
