Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an engine output increase effect and enabling an operation in each mode to be appropriately performed in relation to a structure operating in a mode for operating as a turbo compound and a mode for operating as a supercharger.SOLUTION: Connection/disconnection states of clutch mechanisms 7, 9, and 17 are switched over depending on an operation state, whereby a first mode and a second mode are switched over therebetween, the first mode being for driving a turbine 1 to rotate by exhaust gas from an engine 4 and transmitting the rotation of the turbine 1 to an output shaft 10 of the engine 4 (mode for operating as a turbo compound), and the second mode being for driving a compressor 2 to rotate by power of the engine 4, compressing air, and feeding the compressed air into the engine (mode for operating as a supercharger). A shift control of a toroidal continuously variable transmission 3 is set to a torque control to adjust a torque passing through this toroidal continuously variable transmission 3 in the first mode, and set to a transmission gear ratio control to adjust a transmission gear ratio of the toroidal continuously variable transmission 3 in response to the revolving speed of the output shaft 10 of the engine 4 in the second mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
