Abstract:

To provide an engine in which it can be found that a sprocket is assembled to a balance shaft in an inclined state.SOLUTION: An engine 10 comprises a balance shaft 30, a sprocket 40 assembled to a distal end of the balance shaft 30, and a chain cover 20 which covers a chain 50 meshed with the sprocket 40 and is assembled to an engine body 15. The sprocket 40 comprises: a disc-shaped meshing part 41 having teeth meshed with the chain 50; and a cylinder part 42 in which a hole into which the distal end of the balance shaft 30 is inserted is formed. The chain cover 20 has a protrusion wall 22 protruding toward the meshing part 41 in a position opposing the engagement part 41 in an inner wall face 21. A length L1 of the cylinder part 42 in an extension direction of a center shaft of the balance shaft 30 is set to be longer than a distance L2 from an opposing face 46 of the meshing part 41 opposing the protrusion wall 22 up to the protrusion wall 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
