PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device that can highly accurately detect a position of a measured object, and can properly calculate a difference when finding a current or the like.SOLUTION: A light reception device comprises: a light reception element; and a computation unit. The light reception element, which includes a first light reception area and a second light reception area, is configured to receive light irradiated from a light source and partially blocked by the measured object in the first light reception area and second light reception area, and thereby outputting first output power based on the light irradiated in the first light reception area, and second output power based on the light irradiated in the second light reception area. An output unit is configured to externally output the first output power and second output power, or values based on the first output power and second output power. When a direction parallel with a light reception surface of the light reception element and vertical to a first direction is a second direction, a length of the second direction of the second light reception area is equal to or longer than that of the second direction of the first light reception area over the entire first direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
