Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, capable of efficiently eliminating NOx exhausted from the internal combustion engine right after started.SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine, where a NOx catalyst having a support formed of zeolite and a Pd supported by the support is provided in an exhaust pipe so that NOx in exhaust gas exhausted from the engine right after started is adsorbed by the NOx catalyst, includes an ECU for acquiring a timing when the NOx adsorbed right after started is desorbed from the NOx catalyst (S3-S4), and setting the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NOx catalyst to be stoichiometric or rich in accordance with the acquired desorption timing and performing NOx purge control for the NOx catalyst to reduce and eliminate the NOx desorbed from the NOx catalyst (S5).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
