Abstract:

To provide technology inhibiting intake system engine component such as a turbocharger and an intercooler from being corroded by acid material such as sulfuric acid contained in EGR gas introduced into an intake system by a low pressure EGR means in an internal combustion engine provided with the low pressure EGR means.

This system is provided with a turbocharger including a turbine in an exhaust gas passage of the internal combustion engine and a compressor in an intake air passage, the low pressure EGR means returning part of exhaust gas to the internal combustion engine via a low pressure EGR passage connecting the exhaust gas passage in a downstream of the turbine and the intake air passage in an upstream of the compressor, and a neutralization agent adding means supplying neutralization agent neutralizing acid material in exhaust gas flowing in the intake air passage by the low pressure EGR means into intake air flowing in the intake air passage in the upstream of the compressor.
