PURPOSE: To provide the casting and molding method for Sialon powder which uses a Sialon powder-contg. slurry having an extremely low foaming property.
CONSTITUTION: The Sialon powder-contg. slurry is produced by adding a deflocculant of a polycarboxylic acid system to the Sialon powder incorporated with a polyethylene adduct as a deflocculant. Casting and molding are executed by using this slurry. A remarkable effect of suppressing the foaming property of the slurry generated by the use of the polyethylene oxide adduct alone is generated in this way. Consequently, the Sialon powder-contg. slurry having the extremely low foaming property is produced. The time in the defoaming stage is thus shortened and the easy casting and molding are possible. The effect of allowing the easy production of a Sialon molding having the intricate shape not moldable by press forming and the sintered compact thereof is generated.
