Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust device for multi-cylinder engine in which an exhaust system is structured to obtain scavenging effect exceeding the scavenging effect obtained by an ejector effect alone.SOLUTION: A path length from an upstream end to a downstream end of a common exhaust path 54 is set to be shorter than a path length from an upstream end to a downstream end of an independent exhaust path 52, 53. A flow path area of a volume expanded part 62b is set larger than a flow path area of the upstream of a volume expanded part 62b so that a positive pressure wave of the exhaust reaching the volume expanded part 62b is reflected in the volume expanded part 62b to produce a negative pressure wave. A length of L1 from an upstream end of a collected pipe 56 to an upstream end of the volume expanded part 62b is set to ≤1 m so that at least in an engine low speed region, the negative pressure wave produced by reflecting the positive pressure wave of the exhaust discharged from a following cylinder 12 in the volume expanded part 62b reaches an exhaust port 18 of a preceding cylinder 12 during overlapping period of the preceding cylinder 12. The common exhaust path 54 is positioned inside from the independent exhaust paths 52, 53 in a bent part.
