Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable external PTC element, capable of being manufactured by a simple process.SOLUTION: In an external PTC element 1a, a tabular PTC chip component 10 and a top plate 20 consisting of a metal plate and a sheet-like insulator 40 are laminated, in this order, above a bottom plate 30 attached to the electrode terminals of a cylindrical battery 50 provided, on the opposite end faces thereof, with electrode terminals (51, 52), and disposed below, the PTC chip component is disposed in a region where the top plate faces the bottom plate, the bottom plate includes a tongue piece 31 projecting to the left and right sides of the region where the top plate faces the bottom plate, where one direction perpendicular to the vertical direction is the left and right direction, the tongue piece is caulked in the vertical direction, the bottom plate and PTC element and top plate and insulator are crimped in the lamination direction, the insulator has a wall surface 32 suspended downward from the lower surface edge of the insulator, and the wall surface is interposed between the side face of the top plate and the tongue piece.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
