Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber preform unit for an optical connection component between a multi core fiber and a single mode fiber, an optical connection component and a method for manufacturing the optical connection component.SOLUTION: A fiber preform unit 10 for optical connection components is formed by inserting N fiber preforms 13 used for an optical connection component for connecting a multi core fiber having N cores having a high refractive index in one clad having a low refractive index and a single mode fiber aggregate having one core having a high refractive index in one clad having a low refractive index and formed by bundling N single mode fibers having the same mode field diameter as that of the multi core, into respective N open holes 111 and 121 of a first and second holding members 11 and 12 having the N open holes 111 and 121.
