Abstract:
To provide a foil bearing capable of increasing pressure (load capacity) generated in a beating gap.SOLUTION: A foil bearing comprises a foil holder, and a plurality of foils arranged in parallel along a circumferential direction on an inner peripheral surface of the foil holder. Each foil has a top foil part having a bearing surface, and an under foil part provided on the other end side in the circumferential direction of the top foil part. A notch part opening in the circumferential direction is formed at the other circumferential end of the under foil part of each foil. 0.78≤a/A≤0.95, and 0.61≤b/B≤0.95 are satisfied, where an opening width of the notch part is a; an axial width of the under foil part is A; a depth of the notch part is b; and a circumferential length of the under foil part is B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
