Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the detection accuracy of a foreign matter placed on a cover covering a transmission coil or a reception coil, in noncontact power supply from the transmission coil to the reception coil.SOLUTION: A foreign matter detection device 17 includes a second coil (transmission coil 3) for transmitting a power, in a noncontact manner, to a first coil (reception coil 5) or receiving power therefrom. The foreign matter detection device 17 includes a foreign matter detection coil 19 located between the first and second coils, and a cover 10 covering the upper part of the foreign matter detection coil 19. The upper surface of the cover 10 includes at least one inclined plane 10a, 10b inclined with respect to the coil surface of the second coil. The inclined planes 10a, 10b incline downward from a low sensitivity area where the detection sensitivity of the foreign matter detection coil 19 is relatively low, to a high sensitivity area where the detection sensitivity of the foreign matter detection coil 19 is relatively high.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
