Abstract:
The pump working space(40) communicates with a suction space (18) across a fuel duct (42) and the electrically operated valve(32). The fuel is delivered from a fuel storage tank(20), and can be connected to one of several pressure ducts (24) during a respective delivery stroke of the pump piston (12), across a distributor opening (23) arranged in a distributor (22), during a respective delivery stroke or the pump piston. The fuel is then conveyed to the injection points of the IC engine connected across injection lines. The fuel delivery with high pressure in the injection lines is determined by the closing phase of the valve(32). A by-pass line (43), arranged between the suction space (18) and the valve (32), branches from the fuel duct (42) to a fuel return line (51). The valve (32) is inserted in a bore (28) in a housing part (22) of the fuel injection pump and together, with the bore (28), defines an annular space (48) which is connected to the by-pass line (43) and the fuel return line(51).
