Abstract:
A fuel injection timing control device (1) for a diesel engine is disclosed that includes a cylinder (6) disposed in a fuel injection pump. The interior of the cylinder is divided into a high pressure chamber (11) and a low pressure chamber (12) by a timer piston (7). Both the high pressure chamber (11) and the low pressure chamber (12) communicate at least indirectly with the outlet of a force fuel feed pump (3). The low pressure chamber (12) also communicates with a low pressure sink (5). To control the injection timing, a cam plate (28) is placed opposite to a roller ring (10). The roller ring (10) interlocks with the timer piston (7). The cam plate (28) interacts with a plunger (26) to control fuel injection timing according to a change in position of the rolling ring (10). A first communication path (14) is provided to permit at least indirect communication between the low pressure chamber (12) and the outlet of the force fuel feed pump (3) but effectively bypasses the high pressure chamber (11). Additionally pressure damping devices (18,20) are provided in each of a second communication path (19) between the high pressure chamber (11) and the outlet of the force fuel feed pump (3) and a third communication path (17) between the low pressure chamber (12) and the low pressure sink (5).
