Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump capable of preventing the vapor lock of a pump chamber.SOLUTION: An ECU of a fuel pump feedback-controls the drive of a motor, to set (S2) the rotation number of an impeller to one according to a target fuel pressure. On the basis of the fuel pressure detected by a pressure sensor, the ECU detects (S3) whether or not a vapor has occurred in the fuel of a pump chamber. If the occurrence of vapor is detected (S3: YES), the ECU sets the revolution number of the impeller higher than the target revolution number determined by the feedback control, for a predetermined time period (S4 and S5). As a result, the vapor of the pump chamber is discharged to the outside of the fuel pump.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
