PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel fumarate ester-alkoxy cinnamic acid copolymer expected to make a phase difference film large in refractive index and outersurface phase difference in a thickness direction of a film and excellent in optical properties such as having high outersurface phase difference in a thin film.SOLUTION: There is provided a fumarate ester-alkoxy cinnamic acid copolymer containing a fumarate ester residue unit and an alkoxy cinnamic acid residue unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
