Abstract:
Data stored in a data base (21) include crisp numbers expressed by definite numeric values, fuzzy numbers expressed by adding a word "about" to the numeric values, and fuzzy labels expressed in a fuzzy language. Status codes are used to classify the data, and the data with status codes are stored in the data base (21). A fuzzy data dictionary stores the data and membership function data accessed by using the status codes added to the data. When a retrieving condition is given, the data associated with the retrieving condition is retrieved from the data base (21). When the data are of a fuzzy conception type, the membership function data corresponding to the data is retrieved from the fuzzy data dictionary (22). Fuzzy retrieval execution means (20) calculates the degree of adaptability of the membership function data to the retrieving condition, and outputs it through an output device (24).
