Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell gas diffusion electrode base material which can express high power generation performance over a wide temperature range from low temperature to high temperature, while combining high drainage performance and low steam diffusibility.SOLUTION: The gas diffusion electrode base material is produced by binding the following carbon fibers (A) and (B) with carbide, and has a density in the range of 0.20-0.40 g/cmand a pore size in the range of 40-80 μm. (A) The single fiber of carbon fibers has an average diameter of 3-8 μm, and an average length of 4-20 mm. (B) The single fiber of carbon fibers has an average diameter of more than 8 and less or equal to 30 μm, and an average length of 0.5-20 mm.
