Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion body for a solid polymer fuel cell improved in drainage, and a manufacturing method capable of easily giving such a gas diffusion body.SOLUTION: A gas diffusion body 22 has water repellent distribution increasing the amount of a water repellent per unit volume from a surface to a center position in a thickness direction. Such a gas diffusion body 22 can be obtained by manufacturing steps including: a water repellent distribution fixing step of heating/retaining a porous substrate impregnated with a water repellent distributed liquid to at least a first temperature higher than a room temperature under pressure reduction; and a burning step of heating/retaining the porous substrate at a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
