Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly acquire data required for quantitatively analyzing concentration of elements, such as boron, in powder or granulated material such as coal ash.SOLUTION: A device includes at least :a neutron source 23 that emits fast neutrons; a moderator 22 for converting the fast neutrons into thermal neutrons; a sample holder 21 that accommodates an analysis target and is irradiated with the thermal neutrons; and detectors 26 for detecting the thermal neutrons transmitting through the analysis target accommodated in the sample holder 21. The sample holder 21 keeps thickness of the analysis target constant in a travelling direction of the thermal neutron transmitting therethrough. The neutron source 23 is embedded in the moderator 22, and the detectors 26 are accommodated in a housing 25. The moderator 22, sample holder 21, and housing 25 are placed vertically next to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
