Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular headlight system that appropriately control light distribution according to a traveling environment of an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A control unit 13 includes a map information feeder 12 that feeds road information relevant to a current position of an own vehicle, a traveling environment decider 14 that decides based on the road information, which is fed from the map information feeder 12, whether the own vehicle is traveling in an urban area, an illuminating condition designator 15 that designates a first illuminating condition when the own vehicle is found to be traveling in the urban area on the basis of a result of the decision made by the traveling environment decider 14, and designates a second illuminating condition when the own vehicle is not traveling in the urban area, and a control signal producer 16 that produces a light distribution control signal according to the first or second illuminating condition designated by the illuminating condition designator 15, and outputs the signal to headlight units 20L and 20R. The second illuminating condition is an illuminating condition under which the illuminance on both ends of an object-of-light distribution area spread ahead of the own vehicle is made relatively higher than it is under the first illuminating condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
