To provide a method and a device for processing high-temperature waste gas capable of effectively dropping the temperature of high-temperature melting waste gas generated from a melting furnace.
In the method, the temperature of high-temperature melting waste gas generated when melting incineration residues of city wastes and/or industrial wastes in a melting furnace is dropped by using a molten waste gas temperature dropping tower 9. Cooling air is fed from a cooling gas nozzle 96 so as to form a swirl accompanied by the upwardly flowing melting waste gas introduced in the melting waste gas temperature dropping tower 9, and cooling water is sprayed from a cooling water spray nozzle 95 extending downward from a center of a top part in the melting waste gas temperature dropping tower 9 to drop the temperature of the melting waste gas.
