To provide a retainer capable of adjusting easily a hanging height of a garment or the like, and also applicable to application other than hanging of the garment or the like.SOLUTION: A retainer includes: a support body 2 having a pole 3, and a plurality of balls 4a attached to the pole 3 slidably; and a holder 5 detachably attached to an optional position on the support body 2.The holder 5 has a pair of upper and lower horizontal members 5a, 5b inserted between adjacent balls 4a, and groove parts 11a, 11b provided on each horizontal member 5a, 5b, and the pole 3 is inserted into the groove parts 11a, 11b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
