Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle and control method thereof capable of improving fuel consumption without decreasing an exhaust gas purification rate in an energy regeneration mode of the hybrid vehicle.SOLUTION: In a hybrid vehicle 1A provided with a hybrid system 2 having a motor generator 21 connected to a battery 24A and an engine 10, and an exhaust gas purification system 14 having a catalyst 43 interposed in an exhaust passage 12 of the engine 10, an electric heating body 44 connected to the battery 24A is arranged so as to be opposed to a front face of the catalyst 43, and when the hybrid vehicle 1A is in an energy regeneration mode, and charge capacity of the battery 24A is over a pre-set threshold, a switch 49 is turned on so that power stored in the battery 24A is supplied to the electric heating body 44 to generate heat, thereby preventing decrease in temperature of the exhaust gas purification system 14.
