Abstract:
A paraffins-rich raffinate from the solvent extraction of a lubricating oil feedstock is treated by two-stage hydroconversion followed by hydrofinishing. A preferred subsequent step comprises dewaxing. A lubricating oil basestock having at least 90 wt.% saturates and a VI of at least 105 may be obtained.
