Abstract:
To provide an ice discharge device advantageous in suppressing splash of liquid when charging ice into a container in which liquid is put, and to provide a refrigerator including the ice discharge device.SOLUTION: An ice discharge device includes: an ice making section for making ice 90 with a shape having a longitudinal direction; an ice discharge section having an ice discharge port for discharging the ice 90; and ice conveying means for conveying the ice 90 to the ice discharge section. The ice 90 has a shape in which a projection area in the longitudinal direction is a minimum projection area, and a projection area in directions excluding the longitudinal direction is larger than the minimum projection area. The ice 90 has a first edge 90a as one edge in the longitudinal direction and a second edge 90b as the other edge in the longitudinal direction. A cross sectional area when cutting the ice 90 in a plain face perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is constant or is increased from the first edge 90a at least to a position in the middle between the first edge 90a and the second edge 90b. The ice conveying means conveys the ice so as to discharge the ice 90 with the first edge 90a facing downward from the ice discharge port.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
