PURPOSE: To divide the frequency of a vehicle speed pulse signal at a frequency division ratio M/D (M and D are natural numbers) without causing any fluctuation in the period of output pulse signal.
CONSTITUTION: Rotation of a gear 1 for deterting the vehicle speed is detected through a detection element 2 comprising an MRE(magnetoresistive element), for example, and shaped through a shaper circuit 3 to produce a vehicle speed pulse. The period of the vehicle speed pulse signal is detected through a sampling circuit 4. The period thus detected is then multiplied by a predetermined multiplicator through a multiplier circuit 6 and the product is divided by a predetermined divisor through a division/pulsation circuit 8 thus producing a frequency division vehicle speed pulse signal having a period equal to the division results.
