Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an igniter of an internal combustion engine capable of improving ignition with its power consumption reduced.SOLUTION: An igniter 10 of an internal combustion engine includes: an ignition plug 26 arranged so that a tip part 27 is exposed to an axial end part 20a of a combustion chamber 20 formed in a cylinder 22, and having a central electrode 28 and a ground electrode 30 provided to face each other at the tip part 27; and magnetic field formation means 32, 34 configured to form a magnetic field B in a direction where a magnetic vector B1 penetrates in a substantially perpendicular manner, for a substantially two-dimensional plane that includes a spark discharge path P formed so as to extend into a substantially U shape in a direction orthogonal to a mutual opposite direction between the central electrode 28 and the ground electrode 30 by an airflow G jetted out to the axial end part 20a of the combustion chamber 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
