Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition control system for an internal combustion engine, capable of directing a discharge current value to an ignition device 30 from a control device 40, while restricting increase of the number of communication lines.SOLUTION: An ECU40 outputs an ignition signal Si to an ignition device 30 through an ignition communication line Li. The ignition device 30 performs closing operation of an ignition switching element 60 while the ignition signal is inputted. The ECU 40 outputs a discharge waveform control signal Sc to a waveform control communication line Lc at the time delayed for a predetermined delay time from output timing of the ignition signal Si. The ignition device 30 controls current flowing across a primary coil 52 to be a discharge current command value determined according to the delay time, by opening/closing operation of the control switching element 80 after the ignition signal Si is stopped and during an input period of the discharge waveform control signal Sc.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
