PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope capable of quickly and appropriately adjusting light irradiated on a specimen.SOLUTION: An illumination optical system includes reflection means including a reflective surface having a shape of a part of an elliptic cylinder surface, and splitting means configured to split light at a first focal position of the elliptic cylinder surface.
