Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve good cleaning performance when a cleaning device including a rigid body blade is employed irrespective of conditions of use.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 transfers a toner image formed on an intermediate transfer belt 17 onto a sheet P to form an image. The intermediate transfer belt 17 includes a base layer and an elastic layer, and the elastic layer has a surface hardness of 70 MPa or more and 150 MPa or less, which is measured by a nano-indentation method. The image forming apparatus includes a belt cleaning part 20 having a rigid body blade 21 that is in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 17 after the toner image is transferred onto the sheet P to remove a residual material attached to a surface of the intermediate transfer belt 17. The thickness of the rigid body blade 21 is 100 μm or more and 300 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
