Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing a possibility of positional shift.SOLUTION: Control is executed in accordance with the number of image carriers in contact with a belt member. An image forming apparatus includes a control part for performing the steps of: S102 for determining whether the number of photoreceptor drums in contact with an intermediate transfer belt is two or more for an image forming indicated by an acquired instruction (step S101); S103 for controlling a drive motor in accordance with a measurement value of an encoder if determined that the number of photoreceptor drums in contact with the intermediate transfer belt is two or more (Yes for step S102); S104 for determining whether a medium is inverted by a transport part if determined that the number of photoreceptor drums in contact with the intermediate transfer belt is less than two (No for step S102); and S105 for controlling the drive motor in accordance with a measurement value of an FG sensor if determined that the medium is not inverted (No for step S104).
