Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform use restriction according to an information processing apparatus connected with an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording medium, and a control unit that controls the image forming unit and is configured to be capable of communicating with an external information processing apparatus in any of two or more mutually different communication methods. When the control unit detects communication from the information processing apparatus (A1: YES), specifies a communication method for the detected communication (A2). The control unit then, of a plurality of setting items according to image formation that can be performed by the image forming unit, determines an available setting item to be available according to the communication method specified through specification processing (A3). Subsequently, the control unit outputs setting item data indicating the available setting item to the information processing apparatus.
