Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that can improve operability and convenience of a cover part covering a document placing surface, and an image forming apparatus including the image reading device.SOLUTION: An image reading device 1 includes a device body 3, a document cover 4, a magnetic force generating part 50, and a magnetic force control part 53. The device body 3 includes a document placing surface 10A. The document cover 4 is rotatably supported on the device body 3 while taking an open attitude of opening the document placing surface 10A and a closed attitude of covering the document placing surface 10A. The magnetic force generating part 50 can selectively generate an attractive force and a repulsive force with magnetism between a pair of permanent magnet 51 and electromagnet 52 provided in the document cover 4 and device body 3. The magnetic force control part 53 switches the state of the magnetic force generating part 50 between a state of generating the attractive force and a state of generating the repulsive force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
