Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that can make a user aware of abnormality of an optical sensor for detecting the size of a sheet placed on a tray.SOLUTION: An image reading device comprises: a document presence/absence detection sensor 10 that detects the presence or absence of a sheet on a tray; and a document length sensor 15 that is provided on the upstream side in a sheet conveyance direction with respect to the document presence/absence detection sensor 10 for detecting the length in the conveyance direction of the sheet placed on the tray. After the sheet placed on the tray is conveyed to read an image of the sheet, when the document presence/absence detection sensor 10 outputs a signal about the absence of a document and the document length sensor 15 outputs a signal about the presence of a document, the image reading device notifies a user of abnormality of the document length sensor 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
