The image forming apparatus 20, which authenticates a maintenance apparatus 50 by a frequency confined for each of a plurality of auxiliary access codes and then invalidates the auxiliary access code, generates a new auxiliary access code every time one auxiliary access code is invalidated, or generates auxiliary access codes when all the managed auxiliary access codes are invalidated, and transmits the generated auxiliary access code to a predetermined mail address.
