Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biomass component separation method capable of efficiently obtaining a glucan-containing composition.SOLUTION: A biomass component separation method includes: a process 1 of heating herbaceous biomass in an alkaline aqueous solution having a concentration of 0.01-5 mass% at 100-150°C to obtain primary treated biomass, and then performing component separation to separate the primary treated biomass into a water-soluble component and a water-insoluble component of the primary treated biomass to obtain the water-insoluble component of the primary treated biomass; and a process 2 of agitating the water-insoluble component of the primary treated biomass in an alkaline aqueous solution having a concentration of 6-60 mass% using a high-speed agitation device under conditions where peripheral velocity is 1-50 m/s and the product of the peripheral velocity and the treatment time is 5-2,000 m to obtain secondary treated biomass, and then performing component separation to separate the secondary treated biomass into a water-soluble component and a water-insoluble component of the secondary treated biomass to obtain the water-insoluble component of the secondary treated biomass, which is a glucan-containing composition.SELECTED DRAWING: None
