Abstract:
PURPOSE: To maintain the shape of a separator while resisting the pressure at the time of charge and discharge, and hold the electrolyte with hollow holes and pores by using the porous hollow fiber as a separator for battery.
CONSTITUTION: As the fiber to be used, the porous hollow fiber 5, which has two or more of hollow holes for dividing the inside of a fiber in the longitudinal direction and which has pores 4 for communicating the hollow holes 3 and the surface 1 of the fiber, is used. The electrolyte penetrates from the pores 4 to the hollow holes 3, and is held in the fiber 5. Since the inner wall exists between the hollow holes 3, the force for resisting the pressure is given to the fiber 5. Such a fiber 5 can be obtained by spinning with the ordinary compound spinning method, and thereafter, by extracting the resin component for elimination from the parts of the hollow holes 3 and the pores 4. The strength of the separator is thereby improved, and in the case of a secondary battery, even if the pressure is applied to the separator at the time of winding between the plates and at the time of charge and discharge, the separator can hold the electrolyte.
