Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a computer for channel reservation for each video conference terminal.
SOLUTION: An image generating means 22 of a center 8 generates image information to list up and display numerals and characters, an image display means 26 of a video conference terminal 6 receives the image information through a channel and the numerals and characters are listed up on a screen of a video monitor. When the user operates position entry by an entry device 12, the entry device 12 outputs position information and pointer graphics are displayed on the screen of the monitor at a position denoted by the position information by a pointer display means 28. When the user moves the pointer graphic to a position of a desired numeral or character and the entry device 12 confirms the selection, an information transmission means 30 sends the position information from the entry device 12 to the center 8 on each occasion. An information reception means 23 of the center 8 receives the position information and a channel reservation means 24 discriminates the selected and entered numeral or character based on the image information and the position information to identify the time and the user thereby reserving the channel.
