Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining method and a joining structure of members which in joining two members with polygonal-shaped cross sections by enlarging the members, can improve joining strength while suppressing increase in weight of the members.SOLUTION: The joining method of members includes steps of: preparing a first member 1 having a first hole part 17 with a polygonal-shaped cross section formed and a second member 2 in a hollow shape, where the second member 2 has a cross-sectional shape corresponding to the polygonal cross-sectional shape of the first hole part 17 and comprises, in the cross-sectional shape, a plurality of straight parts 21-24 extending straight and corner parts 25-28 positioned between two straight parts adjacent to each other; and inserting the second member 2 into the first hole part 17 of the first member 1, then enlarging and deforming the corner parts 25-28 and joining the second member 2 to the first member 1 by caulking.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
