To provide a method and an apparatus for treating garbage, wherein garbage is dried properly according to the kind of the garbage.
This method for treating garbage comprises a heating step to heat garbage (3) in a treatment tank (4), an agitating step to agitate the garbage in the treatment tank and a switching step to select an operation mode according to the kind of the garbage to be treated and switch/perform one or both of the heating step and the agitating step in the selected operation mode. This apparatus for treating garbage is provided with: the treatment tank (4) for treating garbage (3); an agitating means (a scraper 6) for agitating the garbage in the treatment tank; a heating means (a heater 32) for heating the garbage in the treatment tank; and a control means (a controller 86) for selecting the operation mode according to the kind of the garbage to be treated and switching/operating one or both of the heating means and the agitating means in the selected operation mode.
