Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device having high efficiency for light utilization, and further to provide a projector provided with a light source device.SOLUTION: An illumination device comprises: a light source array having a mounting substrate having a mounting surface and a plurality of light-emitting sections mounted on the mounting surface; a collimating optical system to which a bundle of rays emitted from the light source array is incident; and a homogenizer optical system including a first lens array and a second lens array. The plurality of light-emitting sections is mounted in a first direction parallel to the mounting surface such that a principal ray of the bundle of rays is emitted from the light source array in parallel to the mounting surface. A longitudinal direction of each of the plurality of light-emitting sections coincides with the first direction, and a longitudinal direction of a second small lens of the second lens array is parallel to the mounting surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
