Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain an indigo compound in high yield, raised in its production rate by reaction between a specific indole compound and an organic hydroperoxide in a liquid phase in the presence of an oxygen-donating compound and a metallic compound such as aluminum compound.
CONSTITUTION: The indigo compound can be obtained by reaction between (A) an indole compound free from substituents at 2- and 3-sites (e.g. indole) and (B) an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of a catalyst such as a molybdenum compound in a liquid phase while adding, to the reaction liquor during reaction, compound(s) of at least one kind of metal selected from aluminum, iron, copper and zinc in the presence of an oxygen-donating compound such as an organic hydroperoxide, hydrogen peroxide, or oxygen, air or a diluted gas thereof.
