Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for smelting a magnesium whose producing cost is restrained.SOLUTION: A magnesium compound is reduced with lime-nitrogen as a reducing agent to smelt the magnesium. A material, in which a bittern (magnesium chloride hydrade) from the sea-water, is heated, can be used as the magnesium compound. Sample 1 compressed-solidifying mixed powder of the heated bittern and lime-nitrogen, is put in a graphite-made crucible 7 to fix in a transparent quartz 3. Successively, the graphite-made crucible 7 is heated while putting this sample in a focus position 8 of a concave mirror 5 in an evacuating state 4 in the qualtz tube and consequently, generated magnesium steam is stuck to the wall surface of the qualtz tube and can be recovered as a magnesium foil 2.
