Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a 1,6-hexanediol precursor composition having low acid value, low viscosity at a temperature during transportation and hydrogen reduction and low average molecular weight, suitable for industrial manufacturing 1,6--hexanediol.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing 1,6-hexanediol precursor composition including mixing an organic acid mixture mainly containing adipic acid and hydroxycaproic acid (mainly existing as an oligomer) and hydrogen reduction product mainly containing 1,6-hexanediol so that [OH]/[COOH] is 1.1 to 2.0, where [COOH] represents the molar number of carboxyl group of monocarboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid contained in the organic acid mixture and [OH] represents the molar number of monoalcohol or diol contained in the hydrogen reduction product, to make moisture content in the mixture be in a range of 0.01 to 0.2 mass% and then reacting them while maintaining the range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
