Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a process for conducting a metathesis reaction between olefin molecules of the same kind or different kinds to manufacture an olefin having a structure different from that of the starting olefin, said process inhibiting the isomerization of double bonds effectively while achieving high activity, and thus manufacturing an objective olefin efficiently. The process includes conducting the metathesis reaction under the coexistence of hydrogen using a silica-supported tungsten catalyst (A) and/or a silica-supported tungsten catalyst (B). The catalyst (A) is a catalyst wherein both a tungsten compound and an alkali metal compound are supported on the same silica carrier, while the catalyst (B) is a catalyst wherein a tungsten compound that is substantially free from crystalline tungsten trioxide is supported on a silica carrier.
