Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material capable of exhibiting a high capacity maintaining ratio as an electrode material.SOLUTION: A carbon material comprises a mesh hollow structure in which a number of fine particles made of carbon are formed so as to be put together and plural holes connecting with each other are formed in spaces between the fine particles. The carbon material is obtained by a method including: preparing a composite material by combining silicon and/or silicon monoxide and transition metal chalcogenide and/or metal silicide; preparing a monomer-containing mixture by mixing monomer that is to be a material of polymer particles and has low compatibility with the polymer, an organic solvent having low compatibility with the polymer and the composite material with each other; preparing a suspension in which oil droplets of the monomer-containing mixture are dispersed, by dispersing the monomer-containing mixture in an aqueous phase; preparing the polymer particles by polymerizing the oil droplets in the suspension; and firing the polymer particles. The carbon material contains the composite material subjected to the firing step, in the holes.
