Abstract:
Preparation of diaryl carbonate comprises reacting monophenols with phosgene or chloro carbonic acid aryl esters. The reaction is carried out in the presence heterogeneous catalysts containing a metal compound. The reaction is carried out in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts containing a metal compound of formula [M(II) 1 - x M(III) x M(IV) y (OH) 2] A(n ->) z / n .mH 2O as active phase. M(II) : divalent metal cation; M(III) : trivalent metal cation; M(IV) : tetravalent metal cation; x : 0.1-0.5; y : 0-0.5; z : 1+y; m : 0-32; A : CO 3 2> ->, OH ->, SO 4 2> ->, NO 3 ->, CrO 4 2> -> or Cl ->; and n : 1 or 2. An independent claim is also included for a diaryl carbonate produced by the above method.
